The man Muni lives with his family in a village called Kritam. They live in poor circumstances. Before most of his cattle died because of pestilence he had about fourty sheep and goats. Now Muni is an old man and there are just two goats left. Every morning the takes the goats to a place to graze. On his way he passes a clay statue of a horse every day without thinking about it. On morning he leaves his home with the goats and rests at the statue when a car runs out of gas in front of him. It´s an American on holidays in India. When he sees the statue he tryes to buy it because he thinks that Muni is trying to sell it. The American only speaks English and Muni speaks in his language Tamil. They are trying to communicate but but don´t understand a word of what the other is trying to say. When the American starts showing his money while petting the goats Muni thinks the man wants to buy his goats, takes 100 rupees happily and leaves.

For me it was very difficult to get the message of many photos and to find the image of the american dream in there. Especially the photo-show with the photos of Nan Goldin and here times of drugs and sex for me doesn´t mean art. I think it´s really difficult in some cases to decide what is art and what are just photos.

I liked a lot the photos of Carl Struss which gave me a good impression of New York and the photos of Lisette Model aswell in which she concentrated on characters in New York and the USA. This aspect for me was really interesting because photos of people and their characters show something natural and original.

I would have liked to see a few more landscapes or more impressions of New York because from my point of view this definetly is something which shows the beauty and contradictions of life in the USA the same time.

Another thing which can be noticed is a change in the thinking of the Americans. Because the terrorits came from the countries in the near East like Saudi Arabia or Afganistan in the minds of more Americans grew mistrust against people from other countries especially those like Saudi Arabia. So for these foreign people intigrating in the American society became more difficult.

Never ever in history the USA were attacked directly in their country. So the terrible attack of 9/11 gave a complete new fear to the Americans. The fear to be attacked in their “safe” country. This led to a feeling of permanent fear. The fact that the terrorists attacked the WTC in Manhattan and the Pentagon in Washington which normally are America´s most important symbols for what the economy and security in the USA. Through attacking right these symbols the terrorirts destroyed something the Americans always could be proud of. So they made the feeling grow to be vulnerable.

The song was published before the president´s election in 2004 to motivate the american citicens to vote and to avoid a reelection of Bush. Because parts of the Text are really agressive like ” Bush, strack him an AK-47…”, the radio stations weren´t allowed to play the song in the radio. But through the internet the the song spread out fast.

Referring to the American Dream, in my opinion on the one hand the song is meant as a reminding at the American Dream. One main aspect of the American Dream is that people are allowed to say what they think and that people have the right to stand up if there is injustice. Eminem mentions many of the things the government around George Bush did wrong. The main thing he criticises is the Iraq war. A quote in the text you can find in line 79 “ No more blood for oil” which refers to the “real” reasons for the Iraq war. American soldiers are sent to Iraq just because Bush wants to impress his father, is another aspect, which is mentioned in line 78.

So Eminem is trying to remind the people of their voice and their right to raise it, which for me is kind of a reminding at the American Dream.

On the other hand Eminem mentions aspects of the American Dream which were maybe forgotten by the Americans. One important aspect is that he says, only together you can reach something and change something. With this statement the sentence “ All you can see is a sea of people, some black and some white” in line 44 matches very good. So for him there are no differences between different races, which is another important idea of the American Dream.

From my point of view the song “Mosh” is a good example that shows that the idea of the American Dream is gone in most of the American´s minds. Eminem criticises that the Americans just bear everything without stand up and with this criticises that they have lost the idea of a country in which you can live in peace, equality and in which you have the right and the duty to change injustice.
